It has been another big year for the GasFields Commission.

Our little team of 10 staff has punched well above its weight throughout 2018.

We engaged directly with more than 3400 industry stakeholders in gas country by holding or taking part in 333 events such as information sessions, forums, pop up shops, tours, workshops and meetings.

We went on the road with the Land Court of Queensland to 10 different country centres to provide some clarity about the Land Court process, address knowledge gaps and explain alternative dispute resolution options.

We’ve held local government briefing sessions in existing and prospective gas tenures and worked closely with government and industry on a range of initiatives and education materials.

The Commission’s engagement team identified biosecurity and Make Good Agreements as ‘hot topics’ so we published a range of new resources including a biosecurity checklist and clearer guidance on how to arrive at a Make Good Agreement.

Information circulated via our social media and website channels has been viewed more than 200,000 times, and we’ve distributed 5 e-newsletters this year with new and helpful information.

Our collection of #Queensland1st videos showcasing real stories from the gas fields has been viewed almost 6000 times.

We released an Industry Snapshot to provide an accurate picture of what the industry is really doing in Queensland.

The snapshot captured data from around 30 different reference sources across industry and government, it was independently analysed by the Commission’s Policy and Research Team and then published as an easy to read graphical representation.

Planning is well underway to update the information.

After more than a year of development and testing, we launched the GasApp including a compensation estimator and we are continuing to refine and perfect the way the app works based on feedback from users, industry and government.

There are too many people to thank individually for their efforts this year so a big thank you to everyone who has worked with us for your support and hard work.

Standby, 2019 promises to be even bigger.
