New Regional Engagement Network
Two regional engagement officers based in Dalby and Roma are now representing the GasFields Commission on the ground in the Surat Basin.
The Commission has made regional engagement its number one priority and all Commission staff are now equipped to be fully mobile and responsive to community needs.
Both regional engagement officers were born in the towns they are working from and are very aware of the issues in their communities.
Jane Walker ( pictured left ) was born in Dalby and has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, communications and project management with both the gas and rural industries.
Katrina Macdonald ( pictured right ) is a Roma local and brings a solid background in rural landholder liaison, agribusiness and the resources industry to her role with the Commission.
Commission Chair Ruth Wade believes the two new regional engagement officers are making an enormous contribution to the functions of the Commission.
“Having Jane and Katrina out there in the gas fields, fully mobile, talking to people and engaging directly is making a huge difference to the Commission’s ability to respond to issues effectively and quickly”, Ms Wade says.
“The Scott review of the GasFields Commission recommended a greater focus on regional engagement and we’re very pleased to be able to deliver on that recommendation by putting our people right where they’re needed.
“Jane and Katrina are both born and bred locals and bring a wealth of local knowledge to the Commission team and the issues faced in their areas”.
A greater focus on regional engagement, extension and communications was a key recommendation from the Scott review into the functions of the Commission.
